Hi… thanks
for visiting our website.
We are Nora and
Wayne Cosner, your distributors of those great Australian Outback
made Barmah hats. We are
literally a “mom & pop” business, operating out of our
home and booths at local festivals.
You will find
that we are “old-school” vendors offering you the finest
quality products at a fair price and friendly, courteous service.
You will be treated with honesty and respect.
That’s why we have many loyal customers who come back
time and time again. You can
buy Barmah hats here with confidence.
We live in the Norwood Creek section
of rural
Powhatan
,
Virginia
, just west of
Richmond
,
Virginia
’s capitol.

While suburbia
is approaching, we still enjoy the sounds of livestock in the
distance, daily visits to our yard from deer, squirrels, raccoons,
gold finches, cardinals, hawks, flocks of hummingbirds and other
critters—ah, country life at its best.
We have two
grown kids. Randy, along with his wife Lindsey and their precious
daughter Olivia and our grand-dog, Bridgette have their own
businesses, a real estate investment company and a home building
company. Michael , our professional student, has completed
degrees at the College of William & Mary and VCU Medical Center
and is employed at UVa Hospital as well as being an advanced hang
glider instructor. He has participated in competitions in North
Carolina, Florida, Texas and the west coast. While attending
school he was employed at Kitty Hawk Kites
and the Black Pelican at the Outer Banks. We also have
3 cats, Daisy, Spinner, and Gramps, all who have a host of
nick-names.
Nora is a
Transportation Specialist at Powhatan County Public Schools,
making sure all of our county’s students arrive safely at the
right school on time. She is
a former president of the Powhatan Junior Woman’s Club and is
now a member of the Fighting Creek Woman’s club.
Sewing, reading, gardening and beach life are her hobbies.
Wayne
is a civilian manager with the Virginia State Police with 35 years
of service. He joined the
Powhatan County Fire Department in 1970 when he was nineteen years
old and continues to serve today though he readily admits that
firefighting is a young person’s game.
He also enjoys working with a race team in the
NASCAR Nationwide Series. That, too, is a young person’s game. He
adapts better to surf fishing, riding the OBX beaches in his 4x4
pickup and outdoor cooking ..
When you see
Down Under Hats at a central
Virginia
festival be sure to stop by and check out a Barmah hat.
We look forward to meeting you.
Again, thanks for visiting www.downunderhats.com.
